Since the last post we have been travelling steadily north in glorious sunshine on almost flat calm seas. Since Arica we have stopped at two ports in Peru. Callaou the port for Lima capital of Peru and Salaverry the port for Trujillo. We did tours at both to see two archaeological sites and a visit to a Paso thorough bred horse ranch with lunch. The history in Chile, Peru and Ecuador pre dates Eygpt and the Incas are a only a small recent part of their history. Seen some amazing structures which are incredibly well preserved because of the very dry desert like climate. The horse breed Paso is apparently the smoothest ride in the world. We crossed the tropic of Capricorn earlier in the week, tomorrow we cross the equator again, on our way to our Panama Canal transit from the Pacific to the Atlantic ocean on Friday 16 the March. Today we are in Manta, Ecuador we are on a trip round museums and to see how they make Panama hats in Montechristi the claimed original home of the hat. Mo had a field day bartering as they are very expensive. Today at the time of writing this post it is Wednesday the 14 March. Surprisingly Mo and I can still get in our clothes, only just ;-) which is an acheivement given how much we love our food and how well we have been fed each day. We are leaving South America and going to Central America with stops in Costa Rica and Mexico then on to New Orleans which will be the furthest point west on our travels at a longitude of just over 90°W. Posting this from the ship so no pictures sorry, love to all our family and friends x.
