The clouds held off and we have just experienced a 30 minute flight above the rivers Amazon and Negro and the city and Jungle around Manaus. Whole journey v. interesting, trip to airport 25 min on a road just going straight from the centre of Manaus, it is a big city. The guide says there are some 91 cities in the state and only 20 roada, all others are accessed by the river, there are thousands of double decker river boats in Manaus. At the airport Eduado Gomes we found our twin engined 8 seater light aircraft, waiting for us, only 6 passengers so all got a window seat. Up we went to see the view over the city, sweep back around the port area and all the cruise ships and 100s of river boats. No one waved from the ship! Challenging photo opportunities with the banking, steamed windows and regular banking turns by the pilot, but hey we loved it, even, vertigo and claustrophobia tested Mo loved it too. Brilliant views a huge city in the middle of a rain forest. Then 10 km down the R. Negro to where the waters meet on the Amazon, bank round follow the south bank of the R. Negro back to Manaus, seeing all them moored boat houses, and houses on stilts, everywhere in the forest. The at the new bridge across the Negro we turned north and back to the airport with visible signs of deforestation The trip took 30 mins the memory will last longer. Short videos will be better than the photos I think. Wow!
