Monday 27th February, arrived Ushuaia early. At 7:00 am we were informed that our ship would not be allowed entry into the Port, on orders of the President, because of our previous stop. That was the bad news. So we missed our train ride to the end of the world. But the good news was, we ended up cruising through the Beagle Channel on the way to Punta Arenas, Chile in the daylight, instead of a night passage. The experience and views of Glacier Alley were spectacular and serene, the photos do not do it justice. This was the start of our journey through the Chilean Fjords. So it was not the 'end of the world' missing the train at Ushuaia the day finished with a glorious sunset too. We expect to see some more spectacular Glaciers. Saturday 25th Feb was also exactly halfway. We are having a fab time, all our best wishes to family and friends.
A record of the places visited, sights and events on our travels since 2012 when we circumnavigated South America. Now in January 2018 we are globe trotting again.

Puerto Madryn, Argentina after 2 days at sea
Please note: This post was delayed by 2 days: Back on shore after two days at sea. Now in the "Roaring Forties",sea and wind has got up and the dancing was cancelled last night, although people were dancing in the corridors on all decks unintentionally. In Puerto Madryn we are going for a 3 hour tour with afternoon tea in Gaiman a Welsh immigrant community in Patagonia, Argentina. Off to Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands next then we hope to go round Cape Horn. Forecast suggested Port Stanley would be 7°C which is a contrast to the 30°C in Buzios and Buenos Aires which is now 685 miles north. Take care everyone from Mo and Rob.
Port Stanley, Falkland Islands
Arrived in Port Stanley 8:00am today, tendered ashore to the harbour and walked around. Total population in Stanley about 3000. Expect 54000 visitors per Annum. The Falklands are 300 miles East of South America and 8000 miles from the UK. Sheep outnumber humans here by 350:1. Today is a lovely sunny day temp about 8°C. Mo and I are good. Off round Cape Horn in 2 days. The maps show current leg of cruise from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso, port for Santiago, Chile and Stanley Harbour. Plus other local views.
