La Antigua, Guatemala - Family get together

What a blast, we took an excursion to La Antigua, Guatemala today for a very special personal reunion with our nephew Mark.

The last time Mo & I saw Mark and his lovely wife Leigh was on their wedding day nearly three years ago.

After meeting for a drink in a local bar, we went back to their hotel and after had a wonderful authentic meal at a local restaurant. Mark and Leigh have been staying in La Antigua Guatemala for four days after entering Central America via Belize while on a holiday.

What a lovely coincidence to be in the same place on the other side of the planet from home, just so we can say hello.

Photos to / in / from La Antigua & Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala.

Some photos to and from La Antigua, the ex capital city is 1000 metres above sea level and surrounded by volcano's.

The image of the smoking volcano is a cheat, a cropped snap of a postcard, although I have real shots of a smoking volcano that we saw enroute to La Antigua on our TZ60 and a video of a humming bird taken in the hotel garden where Mark and Leigh are staying.

These photos are size reduced to allow faster posting to the blog, so the quality is not high but we hope you can still enjoy them.

Panama Transit - Final View looking back at Miraflores Lock, The New Post PanaMax Lock and views of Panama City

Taken over 500 photos today of various aspects of the Panama Canal as we have travelled from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. The weather has been sunny, warm 80°F + and dry. Some visibility issues due to heat haze but a lovely day as QE has ascended and the descended 34m to and from Gatun Lake. It was good to see the locks at the end if the new Post PanaMax additional channels.

Final shots are of the Bridge of The America's and views of Panama City in the background behind the cranes.

Panama transit - Gatun Lake to Pedro Miguel Lock.

Just some pictures of an uneventual trip apart from a crocodile that appeared to try to shoo QE off its patch.
